11 programs of National Economics University achieved ACBSP

On the afternoon of November 11, 2022, the National Economics University officially announced the ACBSP international accreditation certificate, USA for 11 training programs of the University.

Attending the ceremony, on the side of the Ministry of Education and Training, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Khanh – Deputy Director of the Quality Management Department. On the side of National Economics University, there were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong – President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Van Hoa – Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong – Vice President; Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of Science & Training Council, Head of Program Management Committee; Dr. Vu Van Ngoc – Director of the Advanced Education Programs; and representatives of departments, faculties, institutes and centers; staff, lecturers participating in teaching and students of the university.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of the university emphasized: “The announcement ceremony of the ACBSP international quality accreditation certificate, USA today is both an important event and an achievement of the University, contributing to the achievement of celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the School and the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day. This is the crystallization of the utmost efforts, and the unceasing dedication of generations of leaders of the university, of all civil servants, officials, employees, and students. This result has confirmed the tradition of training, the quality of training, fostering and scientific research, as well as other fields of work of the University, have been recognized internationally.” The President also affirmed that the achievement of the international education accreditation certificate is also an important turning point and transformation of the University; creating a positive motivation for the University to continue to improve the quality of training, foster staff, conduct scientific research, and develop the NEU brand in the international arena, in the context of deep international integration associated with increasingly fierce, the strong development of science and technology. This is also the driving force for the National Economics University to strive to become one of the largest training and retraining centers for economic and business administration staff in Vietnam. In the short term, the school will strictly implement all recommendations to improve the quality of education of the evaluation team outside ACBSP. It focuses on reviewing the entire strategy, developing a plan to overcome limitations in all standards covering all areas of work, improving and better operating the internal quality assurance system, and quickly implementing the University’s accreditation according to the roadmap to ensure it meets the accreditation standards of AACSB, USA – Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong shared.

In 2017, National Economics University became a member of ACBSP and accredited 11 training programs, of which 10 were managed by the Institute for Advanced and High-Quality Training and POHE, and 1 training program was managed by the Institute of Business Administration. The accredited programs include Advanced Finance; Advanced Accounting; high-quality programs include: Marketing; Audit; International Business, Business Administration; Bank; and Investment Economics; application-oriented training programs (POHE) include: Hotel Management; Travel Management, and Business Administration; programs in English.

Thus, up to now, the National Economics University has had 18 training programs meeting quality standards, including 1 training program meeting the quality standards of CPA (Australia), 11 training programs meeting the standards of ACBSP (USA), 06 programs meeting the quality standards according to the set of standards issued in Circular 04/2016 of the Minister of Education and Training. National Economics University is also the first public school and the only university in the economic sector with 11 academic programs that meet ACBSP international accreditation standards – the school has a program that meets international accreditation standards for most of the ACBSP economy in Vietnam. It is expected that by the beginning of 2023, the University will have 20 more programs meeting quality standards, of which 05 programs meet quality standards according to the set of standards issued in Circular 04/2016 by the Minister of Education and Training, and 15 training programs meet quality standards according to the standards of FIBAA (Switzerland). In addition, the school is performing accreditation of educational institutions according to the standards of FIBAA (Switzerland) and is expected to complete the external assessment by the end of 2022. Based on strategic orientation for the period 2021-2030, the University will continue to conduct accreditation for training programs according to the standards of international accrediting organizations and strive by 2030, to have at least 80% of training programs accredited. Becoming an official member of ACBSP, USA is a testament to innovation, continuous development, and realization of the goal of internationalization of education, as well as affirming commitment to learners and society about quality education according to international standards of National Economics University. In addition, the pursuit of rigorous standards of ACBSP also opens many opportunities for international qualification recognition and global employment opportunities for students of the university.
